Tajikistan, officially the Republic of Tajikistan, is a mountainous landlocked sovereign country in Central Asia. With an estimated 8 million people in 2013, it is the 98th most populous country and with an area covering 143,100 km2 (55,300 sq mi), it is the 96th largest country in the world in terms of area. It is bordered by Afghanistan to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, and China to the east. It's largest city and capital is Dushanbe.
GETTING THERE Their are direct flights from Dubai courtesy of Emirates/FlyDubai for around $2500-$3000. Flights are also available on China Southern via Ghangzhou and Urumqi, but these are cheaper at around $2000+. Contact Amelia.Roth@fcactivetravel.com for best flights available.
VISA Australians need a visa to visit Tajikistan. If you travel to Tajikistan from a country that has a Tajik embassy or consulate you must obtain a visa prior to your travel. If you travel to Tajikistan from a country in which there is no Tajik embassy or consulate you may apply for a visa on arrival at the international airport in Dushanbe. ACCOMMODATION Their are many well rated hotel's in Dushanbe so we will contact a few of them and find the best deal for the tour. Dushanbe is not a large city, with the airport and stadium close by so it should provide great opportunities to explore a great old Soviet city.
